BuildSite is experimental software that interacts with public blockchains and a public distributed file system. Nothing here is a promise about outcomes. Read this page before you publish anything.

Nothing here is reversible

There is no undo, no support ticket that recovers a mistake, and no administrator with a key that can fix one. Specifically:

• A signed Ethereum transaction cannot be cancelled or reversed by us or by anyone.
• Content pinned to IPFS can be copied and re-pinned by strangers within seconds. Unpinning does not delete it.
• A payment sent to the fee address cannot be returned by the protocol.
• An ENS name sent to a wrong address is gone.

Publishing is publishing

Everything you type into a template ends up in a public HTML file: your name, your biography, your links, your photographs, any contact detail you enter. Treat the wizard as a printing press, not a private document. Do not enter anything about another person without their agreement, and never enter a private key, a seed phrase or a password — no part of BuildSite will ever ask for one.

Costs and price volatility

• Ethereum gas is paid to the network, varies with congestion, and is spent even when a transaction fails or reverts.
• ENS registration and renewal are paid to the ENS registrar, not to us. An ENS name expires. If you let it lapse, your site stops resolving at that name and someone else may register it.
• The platform fee is denominated in ETH. Its value in any national currency moves with the market.
• Any dollar figure shown next to a price is an approximation for orientation only, and may be stale.

Dependencies we do not control

A published site depends on Ethereum, on the ENS contracts, on the IPFS network, on pinning by Pinata or by others, and on gateways such as eth.link and eth.limo for visitors using ordinary browsers. Any of these can change its terms, degrade or go away. A gateway outage can make a perfectly healthy site look offline. We do not operate any of them and cannot restore them.

Wallet software, RPC providers and WalletConnect relays sit between you and the chain. We do not control those either.

Software risk

This application is provided without warranty. It may contain defects. Smart contract interactions carry inherent risk, and no audit — ours or anyone’s — eliminates it. Always read what your wallet is asking you to sign, and confirm the contract address and the amount before you approve.

Verify you are on the genuine site before connecting a wallet. Phishing copies of ENS applications are common.

What BuildSite is not

• Not financial, investment or tax advice. Nothing on this site is a recommendation to buy, sell or hold any asset, including ETH or ENS names.
• Not legal advice. Whether your published content is lawful where you and your readers live is your responsibility.
• Not a custodian. We never hold your keys, your funds or your names.
• Not a hosting provider with a support desk. There is no server we can restart on your behalf.
• Not an endorsement. Sites built with BuildSite are their authors’ work; we neither review nor endorse their content, and template sample data is illustrative fiction.

Your responsibility

You are responsible for the security of your wallet and its recovery phrase, for renewing your ENS name, for keeping your own copy of the HTML we generate, and for the content you publish. Keep a local backup of anything you would not want to rebuild from scratch.

Regulatory position

Rules covering blockchain applications differ by country and change often. It is your responsibility to determine whether using BuildSite is lawful where you are. Use of the service is prohibited where it would breach applicable law or sanctions.
